Pruning and Hedge Trimming
We like to take great pride in our pruning and hedge trimming works. Small and experienced differences in pruning can make a huge difference in the health and look of your plants and therefore the end result. By using correct pruning techniques, tools and knowledge, we are well equipped to take on a wide range of applications. These include regular maintenance pruning, shaping, size reductions, formal and informal hedges and Winter pruning. You can read more about Winter pruning below.
Weed and Pest Control
We like to use the industry standard system to control pest and weed species. This is known as an IPM (Integrated Pest Management). This used a scale of hierarchy with multiple layers, that when used in conjunction with each other can improve efficiency and reduce chemical usage. How we use this system:
Pest and Weed Identification
Hand/Mechanical Weeding
Mulching
Herbicide and Pesticide Applications
Use of Biological Controls (If Applicable)

Locally sourced and aged native mulch is a readily available product here on Phillip Island. This is our leading choice for most applications. Mulch does three main things for your garden; A good cover will suppress weeds, retain moisture and break down to help feed your soil.

Turf Care
A nice, lush lawn is a real thing of beauty. When we talk about turf care, we're talking about more than just mowing. Some lawns just need that extra little bit of love, and we do that in many ways. We use mostly Plant Doctor liquid products on our lawns, and they include soil conditioners, fertilizers and soil wetter. A wide range of granular/slow-release products are also available. We also offer selective herbicide applications to combat weeds in your turf, such as Clover and Wintergrass, just to name a few.

Winter Pruning
Although Australia technically doesn't have any native deciduous plants, a lot of our gardens are full of Winter-dormant plants. My favorite are the roses. It's amazing the difference pruning them does. It's also such a joy watching how they have grown from that prune as they are such a responsive plant. We also have fruit trees that benefit from a seasonal prune to increase yield, reduce pests and disease and to keep at a manageable height (who wants to grow fruit they can't reach?).
